Welcome to Term 4 at Kapunda High School.
Term 4 has started well for Kapunda High School students and staff, with pleasing news to share across a range of areas.
Year 12s
A great effort from students and teachers holding Year 12 Holiday Tuition workshops at Kapunda High School over the recent school holidays. The high level of commitment has been pleasing to see and will be useful for upcoming final assessments and exams. I wish all of our Year 12s the very best for their upcoming assessment and examination period.
AI ‘EdChat’: Proof of Concept Trial
We are in the privileged position of having full school access to the Department for Education AI Tool trial, with the EdChat program. This is a highly innovative tool which students and teachers can use for all forms of learning. We have been trialling the software within our school over Term 3 and have expanded this to the whole school. It is pleasing to see the high level of engagement and learning happening, using the tool.
Subject Assessment Deadlines
Please be advised that students, parents & caregivers can access Subject Assessment Deadlines from Friday afternoon 18th October. We release these on DayMap in the first week of each term, so that students and families are aware and can plan and work in partnership with teachers around completing assessment tasks on-time.
For further information on our School Assessment Practices, please see the policy on our school website available here.
Governing Council Meeting
Please be advised that our second to last Governing Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 29th October at 6:30pm. An acknowledgement and thank you to all Governing Council members for their ongoing contributions to our school.
School Re-build updates
As you may have seen, our school is a hive of activity with lots of work happening for our school rebuild. It is pleasing to see great progress being made with a foundation now laid for Building C (formerly the 60s block) and lots of repair work happening inside and outside of Eringa. Students have found the process very interesting. I look forward to sharing further information, progress and updates with our community as this becomes available.
Heritage Trades Update: Innovation Award
Our school has recently been recognised with an Innovation in VET award for South Australia. This is due to the high level of innovation for our Heritage Trades Program, where students are learning unique and in-demand skills. It has been fantastic to hear our students talk about their engagement in the program and their keen interest in pursuing their studies further. We have further exciting learning opportunities planned in this area, which I look forward to sharing later in the term. Well done to everyone involved.
Berry Street Education Model
Over Term 4 we are continuing to put into practice learning from the Berry Street Education Model. This is a professional learning model which is evidence-based in improving student wellbeing, connection and engagement across schools. Our focus for Term 4 is on Relationships/Connection with students and staff and is a focus in our School Improvement Plan. It has been pleasing to see large growth in student engagement, belonging and connection across our Wellbeing surveys and also through initiatives such as our School House System.
I look forward to working in partnership with you over Term 4 and keep advancing our student learning, opportunities and achievement.

Congratulations to the students who received a certificate for excellent effort in most or all subjects for Term 3 2024. Well done on your achievement improving each term from 2023 to 2024.
Year 12 students Courtney, Georgia and Cooper who attended Roseworthy Primary School together.
Year 12s are at the final stage of their High School education. Over the next 7 days, students will be finishing off their assignments and preparing for exams.
We took the opportunity to snap some pictures of students who have embarked on their entire schooling journey together from Reception to Year 12.
They have some fun activities planned as well as their usual lessons. Dress ups, lunchtime sports and then their final assembly. This year the farewell assembly will be held in the morning and students will finish after a staff prepared morning recess. Whilst parents are unable to attend the school farewell assembly, they will have the opportunity to come along to the Presentation Night on Monday 9th December. More details will be available soon.
I wish all the Year 12s the best of luck for the next stage, whether that be University, TAFE or Full-time work. Remember to stay in touch with the school.

Stage 1 - The Puzzle – State Theatre Excursion
In the last week of Term 3, the stage 1 drama class got to experience live professional theatre in Adelaide. The experience was enriching, and we learned a great deal about what it takes to be a professional actor. The students learnt new ways to portray characters and the depth they can employ in their next performance. We look forward to further opportunities to see live theatre.
