Sports Studies- Mini Olympics
During Weeks 4 to 6 the Year 11 Sports Studies classes came together with the new Year 7s to host a miniature Olympics. The entire event was planned and hosted by the year 11s, with groups in charge of coordinating workload, media/communications and individual events.
Each group worked extremely well to create a positive environment and support them throughout events like shotput, discus, javelin or sprints.
The track and field events were conducted first, on Monday and Tuesday in Week 5. All the students did three events each as a group, rotating around the oval. On the Thursday, they did a novelty event inside the gym where both Year 7s and 11s joined together in three teams to navigate an obstacle course as fast as they could, all racing against each other. On Monday Week 6 the last two events, three-legged race and over and under, were run. The three-legged race was conducted on the blue soccer court and over and under, on the oval all the years 7s competed well and put all their effort in. At the end of all the novelties and track and field events the winners were announced for boys and girls.
The boys winners were:
1st: Lucas Gilling
2nd: Carter Rewell
3rd: Jaxon DiMauro
And the girls winners were:
1st: Callie Browne
2nd: Lucy Bennett, Madelynn Sanderson, Chloe Whittenbury-Shanahan
3rd: Willow Hansen
