IMG_6208.JPG

There is lots happening in our agriculture block this term with the addition of many new animals. Thirteen ducklings have hatched from eggs in our incubator. The ducklings are now two weeks old and growing rapidly each day.
There are also 100 new meatbird chickens that students will help raise this term.
There are four new goats, who will be trained by students to compete in the Led Goat competition at the Adelaide Show later this year.

Kapunda Kindergarten Visit

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of hosting some Kapunda Kindy students at the Ag Block. With the help of our Year 11 Agriculture students and Ms Bromley, the kindy students were able to pat some of our adorable baby chickens and ducklings. They were also introduced to our new goats and calves.

Cows Create Careers

This year, our Year 9 Agriculture students are again participating in the Cows Create Careers program.

"Cows Create Careers is a highly popular, free program that engages and educates young people about careers in the Australian dairy industry." - Discover Dairy

Kapunda High School has participated in the program for many years, with students finding the experience highly valuable.

As part of the program, Jamie Nietschke from Nietschke Moppa Estate has generously loaned two of his calves to KHS for the next few weeks. Our Year 9 students have been feeding and looking after the calves on a roster this week, which will continue until they return home.
