Congratulations and good luck- your journey is just beginning!
On Monday, 27th October, we welcomed Jarrod Walsh, known as "the voice of live sport in Australia", to KHS. Jarrod, who is the Match Day MC for the Socceroos, Cricket Australia, the Australian Boomers, and Port Adelaide Football Club, ran two sessions for our Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 students. He spoke about the importance of "creating a moment" and shared his life experiences.
Thank you to Jarrod, for his valuable insights, and also to Light Regional Council, who made his visit possible!

On Wednesday, we farewelled Miss Alana Dunn as she prepares to embark on a new teaching journey in South Korea. Miss Dunn has been a dedicated Temporary Relief Teacher at Kapunda High School for the past two years. During this time, she has become a valued and popular member of our school community, and her presence will be greatly missed by students and staff alike. We wish Miss Dunn all the very best as she sets out on this exciting next chapter in her teaching career!

Miss Ahrens with the 'Eringa Triptych' artwork and some of the Year 10 students who worked on it
The Term 3 Remaking Eringa Award has been presented to a group of students who have been working on the 'Eringa Triptych' artwork project. Students from Miss Ahrens' Semester 1 Year 10 class and her Semester 2 Year 11 class have collaborated throughout the year to bring this meaningful piece to life.
The 'Eringa Triptych' tells a powerful story through three distinct panels: the history of Eringa and its appearance before the fire; Eringa during the event of the fire; and finally, our collective hopes for Eringa after the fire, reflecting a promising future for Kapunda High School.
Although this project is not yet complete, the creativity, effort, and vision demonstrated by Miss Ahrens and her students are truly commendable and worthy of recognition.
Congratulations to all involved for your commitment and the positive impact on our school community.
First Nations Bush Medicine Workshop
On Thursday, 17th October Aunty Mel and Aunty Violet facilitated a Bush Medicine Workshop for our First Nations Students. They taught us how to make Bush Rub. A healing balm made with gum leaves. We all joined in crushing the leaves to bruise and extract the oils, stirred the pot as the heat drew out further oil and then added the fats to create the rub. This rub has been used for 1000’s of years by Ngadjuri people. We all got some to take home to our families too.
Nicola Winkworth
Aboriginal Education Teacher
On Tuesday, 28th October, some of our Year 9 & 10 students travelled to Balaklava to compete in the Lower North Basketball Competition. The boys team won 2 out of their 3 games. The girls team won 3 out of 3 games, and will compete in the Grand Final next week.
Well done everyone!
